MultiChoice Nigeria has announced the appointment of Kemi Omotosho as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 2026, following the retirement of long-serving CEO John Ugbe.
The company disclosed the development in a statement issued on Monday, noting that the leadership change marks the conclusion of a structured succession process designed to ensure operational continuity and stability.
Ugbe is set to retire after nearly 15 years at the helm of the pay-TV company, a period during which he steered MultiChoice Nigeria through significant shifts in the media and broadcasting landscape, including digital transformation and evolving consumer preferences.
Omotosho brings more than 20 years of experience spanning media, telecommunications, and digital services across Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. She has held several senior leadership roles within the MultiChoice Group, notably as Executive Head of Customer Value Management in Nigeria and later as Group Executive Head of Customer Value Management for the Rest of Africa.
Before her appointment as CEO, Omotosho served as Regional Director for Southern Africa, where she oversaw operations in seven countries and was responsible for driving growth, operational efficiency, and market expansion across the region.
Commenting on her appointment, Omotosho described Nigeria as a critical market for the group and expressed enthusiasm about leading the business at a pivotal time.
She said she looked forward to working closely with employees and partners to strengthen customer engagement, promote local content and storytelling, and support the growth of Nigeria’s creative economy, while building a resilient and future-focused organisation.
MultiChoice Nigeria said the leadership transition reflects its long-term strategy and commitment to sustained growth in one of its most important markets.
