Jobberman is playing a pivotal role in opening the door for young Nigerians to enter the creative economy and turn their passions into meaningful work. Through its recent initiatives, the recruitment platform is linking youth with opportunities in Nigeria’s fast-growing creative sector, a market valued at $4.7 billion.

It isn’t just about connecting people to jobs. The focus is broader: to give aspiring creatives access not only to employment, but also to mentorship, capital, and training. At a Jobberman-Mastercard Foundation career fair in Lagos, participants attended masterclasses, panel discussions, fireside chats, and even on-the-spot interviews.

During his address, Olamide Adeyeye, Country Head of Programmes at Jobberman Nigeria, described the fair not as a mere event, but as a “movement … that celebrates the ingenuity, resilience, and boundless potential of young Nigerians driving the creative heartbeat of our nation.” He reiterated Jobberman’s mission: “to connect talent to opportunity, and to transform potential into prosperity.”

To illustrate the impact, at least one young participant landed a job on the spot, and others, including finalists from a “Pitch Yourself in 30 Seconds” contest, were interviewed by employers right away.

But there’s still work to do. Skills gaps remain a major challenge for the sector: Jobberman’s assessments have found that young people often lack expertise in areas like cinematography, project management, marketing, and graphic design. Addressing these gaps, as well as upgrading infrastructure and funding, will be crucial to unlocking the full potential of the industry.

By channeling youth talent into a sector estimated at $4.7 billion, Jobberman’s efforts aren’t just social; they’re deeply economic. Boosting employment in Nigeria’s creative economy strengthens GDP, nurtures homegrown innovation, and helps the country tap into the booming global creator market.
