The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has recorded its highest-ever revenue collection in a single day, generating N28.10 billion within 24 hours on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
The new figure represents a major improvement for the command and is higher than its previous daily record of N20.1 billion, achieved in September 2025.
The latest milestone was announced by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Isah Sulaiman, a Chief Superintendent of Customs. He described the collection as another major achievement in the command’s efforts to improve revenue generation and make customs operations more efficient.
The record also comes shortly after Apapa Customs posted another impressive result in July 2026, when it collected an unprecedented N323 billion in monthly revenue.
According to the command, the strong performance is linked to several reforms introduced to improve customs operations. These include better compliance by traders, improved trade facilitation, intelligence-led operations and increased use of digital systems.
The Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, Emmanuel Oshoba, said the latest achievement should not be viewed simply as another revenue figure.
He explained that money collected by the Customs Service contributes to government resources used to finance important areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and other public services.
Oshoba also praised the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the management of the service for supporting reforms, automation and modernisation across customs operations.
He dedicated the new record to the Nigerian government and citizens while also appreciating importers, exporters, customs agents and other stakeholders who have supported legitimate trade.
The Apapa Customs boss said cooperation from compliant businesses and useful information from patriotic Nigerians had helped the command improve its performance.
He encouraged traders and other stakeholders to continue complying with customs regulations, stressing that legitimate transactions help strengthen government revenue and support economic development.
However, Oshoba warned officers and personnel against becoming complacent because of the new record. He urged them to see the achievement as a responsibility to improve further.
He stressed that revenue generation must go hand in hand with efficient trade facilitation, transparency, professionalism and respect for businesses operating legally.
The controller also directed officers to resolve genuine disputes quickly and avoid unnecessary delays that could make it difficult for legitimate businesses to operate.
For the Apapa Command, the latest achievement highlights the growing importance of technology, compliance and improved customs procedures in boosting government revenue.
Oshoba said the command would continue working with businesses and other stakeholders to sustain the momentum while making customs operations more transparent and business-friendly.
With the N28.10 billion single-day collection and N323 billion July performance, Apapa Customs is positioning itself as one of the major revenue-generating arms of the Nigerian government.
