Residents of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State have received fresh promises of road and healthcare infrastructure from Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, who says construction of the Ofada-Owode Road and a new general hospital in Owode will begin soon.
Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, made the commitments on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, during a stakeholders’ engagement with community leaders and other representatives in Owode.
According to The PUNCH in a report published on Friday, November 6, 2026, the senator said contractors had been mobilised to commence reconstruction of the Ofada-Owode Road and construction of the proposed Owode General Hospital.
He described the hospital as a three-storey facility that would meet international standards, adding that project contractors and managers had already been mobilised.
Adeola also promised that the hospital would be completed and commissioned before May 29, 2027, when he expects to be sworn in as governor of Ogun State, subject to winning the governorship election.
Beyond the two major projects, the senator pledged to provide 10 electricity transformers to improve power supply across communities in the local government.
He also promised to commence construction of Bisodun Road before the end of November, according to reports by The Sun and The Encounter.
On the development of border communities, Adeola said he would give them priority attention under his proposed administration, noting that improved infrastructure in the areas would support economic activities and strengthen Ogun State’s connection with neighbouring states.
The commitments followed presentations by community leaders, who submitted a document outlining the development challenges and infrastructure priorities of Obafemi-Owode.
Chairman of the Obafemi-Owode Zonal Community Development Committee, Gboyega Adeleke, said the document contained requests covering road rehabilitation, electricity infrastructure and improved access to healthcare.
He explained that the demands had been classified into immediate, medium-term and long-term priorities to guide interventions.
Adeola also outlined his nine-pillar ITESIWAJU development agenda, which he said would guide his proposed administration if elected in 2027. The agenda covers key areas including infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, agriculture, economic empowerment and job creation.
The engagement formed part of his consultations with communities across Ogun State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
