The Ondo State Government has sealed off the site of a two-storey building that collapsed at the Adegbola area of Akure, the state capital, leaving several site workers injured.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at about 3:30 pm, prompting Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Sunday Olajide, to order the immediate sealing of the building site.

Olajide, who visited the site, stated that the government would investigate the causes of the collapse to prevent future occurrences.

He warned building contractors and developers against using sub-standard materials, emphasizing the need for necessary permits and approvals before construction.

“No life was lost, but many site workers were injured,” Olajide said, adding that further action would be taken based on the investigation’s outcome.
