Truecaller recorded a weaker financial performance in the second quarter of 2026 as its advertising business continued to struggle. However, the company reported strong growth in subscriptions, business services, and its global user base, giving management confidence that business conditions will improve in the second half of the year.

The Swedish caller identification and spam-blocking platform posted revenue of SEK393.2 million for the quarter ending June 2026. This represented a 21 percent decline compared to SEK496.4 millionrecorded during the same period in 2025. When adjusted for currency changes, revenue fell by 14 percent.

The company’s profit also dropped significantly. Net profit declined to SEK51.7 million, down from SEK118 million in the second quarter of last year. The biggest reason for the weaker performance was a sharp fall in advertising income, which remains an important part of the company’s business.

Advertising revenue fell by 34 percent compared to the same period last year. Even though the digital advertising market remains challenging, Truecaller said there are early signs of recovery. The company noted that advertising revenue increased by 6 percent compared to the first quarter of 2026 after restrictions from one of its biggest advertising partners were lifted near the end of the quarter. This change also led to a 10 to 15 percent increase in average daily revenue from that partner, and the positive trend has continued into the third quarter.

Despite the decline in advertising earnings, Truecaller achieved strong growth in other areas. Subscription revenue increased by 41 percent after adjusting for currency movements, showing that more users are paying for the company’s premium services. Revenue from Truecaller for Businessalso rose by 8 percent compared to the same quarter last year.

Recurring revenue continued to become a larger part of the business. It increased by 26 percent year-on-year and made up 49 percent of the company’s total revenue, compared with 33 percent a year earlier. This shift reduces the company’s dependence on advertising and creates a more stable source of income.

Truecaller also expanded its global user base during the quarter. The company added eight millionaverage monthly active users, bringing its Android and other non-iOS users to 471 million, up from 426.6 million a year earlier. The growing number of users provides more opportunities for the company to increase subscriptions and business services in the future.

The company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA), excluding incentive programme costs, fell by 50 percent to SEK105.8 million. Its EBITDA margin also dropped from 42.6 percent last year to 26.9 percent. When one-time restructuring costs were excluded, EBITDA declined by 39 percent.

Chief Executive Officer Rishit Jhunjhunwala said the second quarter represented an important step forward despite the weaker year-on-year financial results. According to him, every major revenue segment improved compared to the first quarter, showing that the company’s long-term strategy is beginning to deliver positive results.

He described the subscription business as the company’s strongest growth engine, noting that demand for the premium service continues to rise. He added that there is still significant room for growth because only a small percentage of Truecaller’s global users currently subscribe to its paid services.

The business solutions segment also showed stronger performance during the quarter. Revenue from Truecaller for Business increased by 24 percent compared to the first quarter of 2026, driven by higher adoption of its Verified Business service and increased business messaging activity.

As part of its efforts to diversify beyond caller identification, Truecaller also launched travel eSIM services, marking its first move into digital mobile services. The company believes this expansion will create new revenue opportunities while reducing its dependence on advertising.

Looking ahead, Truecaller remains optimistic about the rest of 2026. Management expects continued growth in subscriptions, business services, and advertising recovery, supported by cost-cutting measures and investments aimed at building a stronger and more stable business for the future.
