Seplat Energy, one of Nigeria’s leading independent energy companies, is preparing to showcase its major achievements in gas development and oil production growth at African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa. The company will participate as a Platinum Sponsor, highlighting its growing influence in Africa’s energy sector and its commitment to improving energy access across the continent.
African Energy Week 2026, scheduled to take place from October 12 to 16, is one of Africa’s biggest energy events. It brings together government officials, oil and gas companies, investors, financial institutions, service providers, and technology experts to discuss new opportunities and encourage investment in Africa’s energy industry.
Seplat Energy has continued to expand its operations and strengthen its position in the oil and gas market. The company reported a strong financial performance in the first quarter of 2026, generating revenue of $840.7 million. At the same time, it reduced its net debt by 21 percent, bringing it down to $531.6 million. This achievement was supported by effective financial planning, favorable energy prices, and a strong risk management strategy.
One of the company’s most important achievements this year was the successful launch of the ANOH Gas Plant in January 2026. The facility has the capacity to process 300 million standard cubic feet of gas per day. The project is expected to improve gas supply for industries, power generation companies, and households while supporting Nigeria’s efforts to maximize the value of its natural gas resources.
Seplat is also focused on increasing production across its assets. The company expects to produce between 135,000 and 155,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day by the end of 2026. To achieve this goal, it plans to invest between $360 million and $440 million in capital projects and carry out a 17-well drilling campaign across both onshore and offshore locations.
Beyond oil production, Seplat is investing heavily in gas infrastructure. The Oso-BRT Phase 1 project remains on schedule and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026. Once finished, the project is projected to double offshore gas sales capacity to around 240 million standard cubic feet per day.
The company is also expanding the Sapele Integrated Gas Plant. The upgrade will increase gas processing capacity, support the production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and help improve access to cleaner energy for Nigerian consumers.
Following the acquisition and integration of assets from Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited, Seplat is pursuing long-term growth plans. The company intends to restore and redevelop many previously underutilized wells while adding between 50 and 70 new wells by 2030. This strategy is expected to boost production, create jobs, strengthen local content participation, and support economic development.
Industry leaders have praised Seplat’s achievements, describing the company as a strong example of how African-owned energy firms can drive investment, expand infrastructure, and contribute to the continent’s energy security and long-term economic growth.
