Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has met with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja to discuss the recent deadly attacks in the state.
The meeting follows the killing of at least 28 people in Angwan Rukuba community, Jos North, on March 29. The attack, described as an act of terrorism, has sparked outrage and panic in the region.
Mutfwang revealed that security operatives have brought the situation under control, with a 48-hour curfew imposed and later relaxed. However, hoodlums attacked motorists and commuters, sparking a new wave of panic.
The governor assured that the authorities are working to identify the attackers and their motives, but so far, no one has been apprehended.
Tinubu has vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice, describing the attacks as “barbaric and cowardly”. He is expected to visit Jos on Thursday to assess the situation.
The Nigerian government has condemned the attacks, with opposition figures and the Nigerian Bar Association calling for decisive action to address the insecurity.
