Nestlé Nigeria has launched its call for entries for the 2025 Nestle Media Awards, an annual competition that honors journalistic excellence across the country. The awards recognize outstanding storytelling that highlights pressing issues such as nutrition, youth empowerment, sustainable livelihoods, and community resilience.

A notable addition this year is the Business and Economy Reporting category. Unlike other categories, submissions in this area need not relate directly to Nestlé; instead, they can explore broader themes in Nigeria’s economic landscape, such as entrepreneurship, policy, growth trends, and innovation. This new category aligns with Nestlé’s goal of promoting solution‑oriented reporting that helps drive understanding about the nation’s business challenges and opportunities.

Victoria Uwadoka, head of Corporate Communications, Public Affairs & Sustainability at Nestlé Nigeria, emphasized the importance of the platform:

“Over the past five years, the Nestlé Media Awards have reinforced our commitment to advancing responsible journalism that drives meaningful progress in society. … This milestone edition strengthens that commitment with the introduction of the Business and Economy category, reflecting the realities of doing business in Nigeria today.”

In addition to the new category, journalists are encouraged to submit work in existing fields such as:

  • Nutrition & Affordable Food Solutions
  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Youth Empowerment & Development
  • Women Empowerment
  • Community Development
  • Finance
  • Agriculture
  • Best Photojournalist

For those categories, stories should align with Nestlé Nigeria’s initiatives or themes both ocally or globally. The awards are open to practitioners in print, broadcast, and digital media across Nigeria.

By expanding its scope and elevating solution‑driven journalism, Nestlé Nigeria hopes this edition will inspire more journalists to spotlight issues that matter and drive positive change in communities nationwide.
