A Nigerian lawmaker, Remi Oseni, representing the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency in Oyo State, has hailed President Bola Tinubu’s student loan initiative as a revolutionary “pathway to liberation” for young people seeking quality education and a brighter future.

The lawmaker made his declaration during a rally held in Apata, Oyo State, which was organised to endorse President Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ and champion his re-election bid in 2027. The event, which also marked the one-year anniversary of the grassroots mobilisation movement founded by Oseni—ROCOF—drew thousands of artisans, traders, youth groups, and political stakeholders.

Oseni drew a direct parallel between his own life and the potential impact of the scheme, stating that his current success was due to benefiting from free education in the past. He described the student loan scheme as one of the most “visionary policies” of the current administration, calling it a “gateway to freedom” for any Nigerian youth whose educational aspirations are currently curtailed by financial limitations.

According to the politician, the scheme is crucial for bridging the social divide, enabling children from less privileged backgrounds to access higher education and pursue their ambitions without the burden of crippling economic hardship. He stressed that education is a powerful tool for enlightenment, arguing, “The ability to read and write liberates you from the prison of ignorance. That is what this student loan policy offers, the chance for every willing Nigerian youth to break free and become productive citizens.”

The representative commended President Tinubu for prioritising human capital development despite the significant economic challenges currently facing the nation. He described the initiative not merely as an education policy, but as a “social reformation strategy” destined to become a legacy policy that will fundamentally shape Nigeria’s future by ensuring no child is denied the chance to learn due to their financial status.

Oseni also addressed rumours linking him to a future governorship ambition in the state. He clarified that his immediate and primary focus is strictly on ensuring the success of President Tinubu’s administration and securing a decisive victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State in 2027. He emphasised that the mission of his movement, ROCOF, is developmental and focused on empowering local groups, stating, “Our goal is to liberate our people not through violence or propaganda, but through empowerment, education, and economic opportunities.”
