To enhance the growth of revenue through technology in the aviation sector, the Aviation Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has stressed the need to embrace technology as a critical driver in the country’s aviation sector
This was one of the decisions taken at its latest Monthly Technical Session held virtually on Tuesday, with the theme, “Leveraging Technology to Boost Aviation Revenue for Improved Public Service Delivery.” The session was hosted by the Chapter’s Pioneer Chairman, Mr Ayodele Olatiregun.
Presenting an in-depth paper, Engr. Nnamdi Chime, Chief Executive Officer of Avitech Software Solutions, alongside his co-presenter, Titilayo Ogunbanwo, a Senior Business Analyst at the firm, they underscored how cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain, and data analytics can transform aviation revenue systems by plugging leakages, enhancing transparency, and aligning with the Federal Government’s goal of optimizing revenue generation, one of the key pillars of the Aviation Minister’s Five-Point Agenda.
Also presenting both Engr. Chime and Mrs Ogunbanwo examined how technology can close long-standing gaps in aviation revenue collection, with emphasis on the strategic role of Chartered Accountants in deploying and sustaining such solutions.
They also drew on global best practices that could be adapted to the local aviation landscape, stressing the need for Nigeria’s aviation agencies to embrace innovation in financial management.
In a robust participation, the session reflected the eagerness of members to engage with ideas that strengthen both professional capacity and the financial resilience of the aviation industry.
In his closing remarks, Mr Olatiregun urged accountants to apply the knowledge gained, noting that embracing these emerging tools is vital not just for their personal effectiveness at duty posts but also for the wider transformation of the aviation sector.
He reaffirmed the Chapter’s commitment to advancing members’ technical expertise through platforms that blend professional development with national interest.
