VFD Group Doubles Profit To N10 Billion Through Investments

VFD Group Plc has reported a strong financial performance for the first half of 2025, recording a profit after tax of N10 billion, more than double the N4.9 billion posted during the same period in 2024. The impressive result was largely driven by higher returns from the company’s investment activities.

According to the company’s unaudited financial statements filed with the Nigerian Exchange, gross earnings rose by 44 per cent to N41.2 billion from N28.6 billion recorded a year earlier. Investment income remained the biggest source of revenue, accounting for more than 90 per cent of total earnings as stronger returns came from treasury operations, loans, placements and dividend income.

Although the company recorded higher investment related expenses during the period, improved revenue generation and better cost management helped sustain profitability. The group’s financial position also remained strong, supported by growth in its investment portfolio and disciplined capital management.

Profit before tax also recorded significant growth, reflecting the company’s ability to generate stronger earnings despite operating in a challenging economic environment. The results show that VFD Group continues to benefit from its strategy of investing across different sectors while focusing on long term value creation.

Commenting on the performance, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nonso Okpala, said, “Over the last two years, we have done the difficult work of reshaping the portfolio, recapitalising the balance sheet, and aligning every entity in the Group to a clear principal investment thesis.”

He added, “We are now beginning to see the results of those efforts translate into stronger earnings and improved value for shareholders.”

The company noted that it remains focused on deploying capital into high value investment opportunities while maintaining sound corporate governance. Management believes this approach will support future earnings growth and strengthen shareholder returns over the long term.

VFD Group has continued to expand its balance sheet through strategic investments and capital raising initiatives. Earlier this year, it completed a fully subscribed rights issue that strengthened its capital base and positioned the company for further expansion across key sectors of the economy.

The latest financial performance reflects growing investor confidence in the company’s business model and highlights the importance of diversified investment income in driving sustainable profitability. As economic conditions remain uncertain, VFD Group’s ability to grow earnings while maintaining financial discipline places it in a stronger position to pursue new opportunities and deliver long term value to shareholders.
