A power struggle has ensued within the Atiku Haske Organisation, a group supporting former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, after his son Abba Atiku defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group’s initiator and convener, Musa Bakari, has dismissed Abba from the organisation, citing his lack of authority to determine the group’s political direction.
Bakari stated that Abba was neither the founder nor originator of the Atiku Haske Organisation and had not contributed financially to the group. He also accused Abba of falling short of the group’s expectations and violating its regulations.
The group has resolved to move en masse to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), not the APC, and has expelled Abba for acting contrary to their resolution.
Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, has distanced himself from his son’s decision, saying it was entirely personal and that he does not coerce his children on matters of conscience.
The Atiku Haske Organisation remains committed to supporting Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambitions.
