The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that all intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj must complete their data capture by 8 February or risk missing out on the pilgrimage preparations. The board’s Director-General, Lamin Rabi’u, made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday, highlighting the importance of meeting the deadline set by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
The directive requires every prospective pilgrim to ensure that their personal information and travel details are fully recorded with the board well before the deadline, and that no extensions will be granted beyond 8 February. This includes the submission of valid international passports, which are essential for processing travel documents and visa arrangements. Mr Rabi’u urged those who have not yet provided their passport details to do so as soon as possible, stressing that late submissions could lead to exclusion from the pilgrimage.
Officials from local government Hajj centres in Kano have also been called upon to intensify public awareness campaigns to ensure all intending pilgrims understand the urgency of the situation. They are expected to reach out to communities across the state, encouraging prospective pilgrims to complete their data capture without delay. The board hopes this will prevent last-minute rushes and reduce the risk of administrative errors that could compromise people’s ability to travel.
The board emphasised its commitment to ensuring a smooth, transparent and successful Hajj operation for those from Kano State preparing to embark on the sacred journey later in the year. By setting clear timelines and insisting on full compliance with NAHCON’s registration requirements, officials say they are trying to help pilgrims avoid complications that have affected Hajj preparations in past years.
This call for complete data capture follows broader directives from NAHCON aimed at ensuring that all state pilgrims’ welfare boards finalise their records promptly. Nationwide, pilgrims are also expected to meet other deadlines set by NAHCON for payments and documentation, including completion of fare payments by the end of December 2025, and uploading vital travel information ahead of departure.
As the 8 February deadline approaches, the pilgrims’ board in Kano is urging individuals and families planning to perform Hajj to act swiftly, reminding them that strict compliance with registration timelines is essential for their participation in the 2026 pilgrimage.
