The First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Group has introduced a major enhancement on its mobile platform, now allowing customers to open investment accounts and subscribe to mutual funds directly from the FCMB mobile app. This launch brings the full suite of investment options from its asset-management arm, FCMB Asset Management Limited (FCMBAM), into the convenience of the bank’s digital ecosystem.

Users will now find in the app a variety of mutual-fund options designed for different financial goals and risk tolerances. Among them are the Legacy Money Market Fund (low-risk, high liquidity), the Legacy Equity Fund (growth-oriented), the Legacy Debt Fund (local currency bonds), and the Legacy USD Bond Fund (dollar-denominated bonds). This range provides investors the opportunity to match their investment profile, whether they’re seeking short-term liquidity, long-term capital growth, or steady income.

FCMB Group underscores this launch as part of a broader strategy: to integrate banking, payments, and wealth-creation tools into one unified platform for its customers. According to the bank’s Managing Director, the goal is not merely digital convenience but a connected ecosystem where saving, investing and everyday finance converge seamlessly. Meanwhile, the CEO of FCMB Asset Management describes the move as one of democratising access to investment, making it simple and inclusive, enabling anyone with the mobile app to begin building a sustainable financial future.

For customers, this development means less friction between depositing funds and investing them. There’s no need for separate platforms or paperwork; instead, you can open an investment account and pick a fund through the same app you use for your banking. FCMB encourages users to download or update the latest version of the app on Google Play or the Apple App Store to begin.

From a broader perspective, the integration reflects how banks in Nigeria are increasingly moving beyond traditional banking transactions into full-service financial ecosystems. By offering investment products directly through the banking app, FCMB is tapping into rising demand among Nigerians for accessible wealth-creation tools. And with mutual funds becoming more digitally reachable, participation in capital markets may increase potentially contributing to deeper financial markets and more efficient allocation of capital.

In summary: this launch by FCMB marks a significant step in bringing investment opportunities to the fingertips of everyday users. It simplifies the path from savings to investment, offers a diversified suite of funds, and aligns with the Group’s vision of holistic financial services, all of which signal maturation in digital finance and inclusion in Nigeria.

By enabling seamless entry into mutual funds through mobile banking, the move positions First City Monument Bank-Group to accelerate capital market participation and deepen financial inclusion, potentially boosting domestic savings and investment flows, and supporting Nigeria’s broader goal of long-term wealth creation and economic resilience.
