Energia Limited is positioning itself for a new phase of growth as it expands its activities across crude oil production, gas processing and downstream infrastructure.

The indigenous oil and gas company made the disclosure as it marked its 25th anniversary, highlighting its plans to strengthen operations and play a bigger role in Nigeria’s drive to increase local participation in the energy industry.

Chairman of Energia Limited, George Osahon, said the company’s journey over the past 25 years has been shaped by the contributions of its founders, workers, host communities and business partners.

He said the company’s anniversary was not only an opportunity to reflect on its achievements but also to recognise the people and partnerships that have supported its development.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Energia, Oladimeji Bashorun, said the company’s next phase would focus on operational excellence, responsible energy development, innovation and stronger partnerships.

Bashorun said Energia had grown from its early days as a wholly indigenous exploration and production company into an operator with broader capabilities across the energy value chain.

“From our beginnings as a wholly indigenous exploration and production company, we have continued to build our capabilities, strengthen our operations and create value for our stakeholders,” he said.

According to him, the company intends to approach its next stage of development with stronger execution and carefully planned expansion.

“Our next chapter will be defined by disciplined execution and strategic growth,” Bashorun added.

The expansion comes at a time when Nigeria is seeking to increase the contribution of indigenous companies to its oil and gas industry while also making better use of its natural gas resources.

Energia said gas monetisation would be one of the key areas of focus as it develops its asset portfolio and upgrades its operations.

The company’s strategy is expected to place greater emphasis on turning available gas resources into commercial value while improving the productivity and efficiency of its existing assets.

Beyond production and infrastructure, Energia said its activities have also extended to communities where it operates.

The company has invested in initiatives covering education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth development and agriculture, describing these programmes as part of its commitment to creating social and economic value in its host communities.

Energia was founded in 2001 by Nigerian oil and gas professionals, many of whom were members of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN).

Its establishment was aimed at demonstrating that Nigerian-owned companies could develop the technical and operational capacity required to participate effectively in an industry that had historically been dominated by international operators.

The company achieved first oil in 2009 and has since maintained a focus on operational performance, environmental responsibility and engagement with host communities.

As it enters its 26th year, Energia is seeking to build on that foundation by increasing its role in crude production, gas development and downstream infrastructure.

The company’s expansion reflects the wider push for stronger indigenous participation, increased investment and greater value creation within Nigeria’s energy sector.
