The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has recovered huge sums of money and seized numerous assets from individuals involved in financial crimes over the last two years.
According to the agency, “the EFCC has recovered ₦566,346,479,521.60, $411,000,413.69, £22,252.37, €47,089.37, and 21,580.36 Saudi Riyals, as well as other assets.” The announcement was made during a recent press briefing where the Commission highlighted its achievements and renewed commitment to the fight against corruption.
The anti-graft agency also revealed that between 2023 and 2025, it secured thousands of convictions across its various commands nationwide. The EFCC described these outcomes as evidence of its intensified efforts to curb economic and financial crimes, especially internet fraud, public fund mismanagement, and money laundering.
In addition to the cash recoveries, the Commission disclosed that 1,502 properties and 139 vehicles were forfeited to the Federal Government in the last two years. These assets were obtained through court-ordered forfeitures following successful prosecutions.
The EFCC noted that part of its achievements stemmed from enhanced collaboration with both local and international partners, as well as the use of advanced digital tools to track illicit financial flows. It emphasized that these measures have improved transparency and made it harder for corrupt individuals to hide stolen wealth.
The Commission added that it has stepped up its engagement with the public to promote accountability and encourage whistleblowing. Educational campaigns and awareness programs have also been launched to discourage youth involvement in cybercrime.
EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring that every stolen public fund is traced and returned. He emphasized that the fight against corruption remains a national priority that requires collective effort from all Nigerians.
He also warned that the agency will continue to pursue cases without fear or favor, regardless of the individuals involved. The EFCC, he said, aims to strengthen the country’s financial integrity and restore public trust in government institutions.
The Commission concluded that “the achievements recorded are a testament to the EFCC’s dedication to combating corruption and promoting good governance in Nigeria.”
Through its continued efforts, the EFCC says it remains determined to create a fairer, more transparent, and corruption-free society.
