Lake Point Towers in Banana Island, Lagos, served as the venue for the first-ever 2024/2025 Estate Intel Nigeria Deal Makers Award, a new initiative aimed at objectively recognising performance in the country’s commercial real estate brokerage market. The award event, convened by Estate Intel, sought to highlight the brokers and firms whose verified transactional activity has had a measurable impact on office leasing and capital markets over the 2024–2025 period.
The Deal Makers Award is grounded in a transparent, data-centric methodology that differs from traditional market reputation or subjective assessments. Estate Intel analysed submissions from participating brokers, focusing on actual space leased or sold, rather than market perceptions or self-reported success claims. More than 21 000 square metres of verified office transactions were evaluated to determine the ranking and selection of winners across the main categories of deal-making activity.
The award ceremony brought together commercial real estate professionals, investors, corporate decision-makers, and industry stakeholders to recognise measured performance that reflects both operational excellence and real market contribution. By anchoring the awards at Lake Point Towers, the organisers underscored the venue’s position as a premier Grade-A office destination in Lagos and a fitting stage for convening market leaders focused on performance and growth.
Among the key honourees, Adeniran Edward Adewumi, MRICS NIMN was recognised for Individual Excellence in Commercial Real Estate, reflecting his high level of verified deal activity and consistent execution across complex transactions. Broll Nigeria took the Office Leasing Deal Maker Award for recording the highest cumulative office leasing volume among participating brokerage firms. Additionally, Trillium Real Estate Partners was honoured with the Capital Markets Deal Maker Award, recognising the firm’s strong track record in sales and acquisition transactions within the commercial property sector. These accolades emphasise both individual and institutional performance at the forefront of Nigeria’s office leasing and capital markets landscape.
The careful verification process behind the awards aims to address a longstanding gap in Nigeria’s property market: the lack of data-backed benchmarks for identifying and celebrating the most active and effective brokers and brokerage firms. Traditionally, recognition within the sector has often been shaped by reputation or anecdotal industry views. The Estate Intel Deal Makers Award is designed to shift industry recognition toward a quantitative standard, where verified results are the primary measure of success.
Hosting the ceremony at a modern commercial office development like Lake Point Towers also served a broader strategic purpose. It reinforced the importance of quality infrastructure in supporting high-level industry dialogue and positioned the development as a nexus for networking, professional engagement, and market insight exchange among players operating in Nigeria’s office real estate sector.
Overall, the inaugural Deal Makers Awards marked a significant step toward formalising performance recognition in Nigeria’s commercial real estate market, signalling an analytical and results-based approach to evaluating brokers’ contributions. This inaugural edition is expected to set a precedent for future iterations, encouraging greater transparency and competition across the sector.
