In the first week of December, shares of UAC of Nigeria PLC (UACN) surged by 22.69%, fueling investor optimism that the stock could soon hit the N100 mark.
UACN’s recent rally reflects growing confidence thanks to its solid financial performance over the past year. In 2024, the company posted a 109% increase in pre-tax profit, rising to N25.828 billion while revenue jumped nearly 64% to N197.6 billion.
This boost in profitability stemmed from across-the-board strength in its core segments: packaged food and beverages, paints, and animal feeds. Packaged foods and beverages alone saw a massive 102% growth, while paints and edibles/feed rose by 52% and 54% respectively.
Improved margins were also key. Gross profit more than doubled in 2024, and both gross and operating margins widened significantly as the company optimized costs and implemented disciplined pricing.
Looking at the more recent 2025 data, UACN continued to post solid results. In Q1 2025 alone, revenue climbed 38% year-on-year to ₦56 billion, and operating profit doubled to ₦6.8 billion, evidence that the momentum in the business remains strong.
Despite previous headwinds, including rising input costs and broader economic challenges, UACN’s diversified business lines and strategic management decisions helped it weather the storm, delivering a 10-year high profit in 2024.
With the stock’s strong run and underlying fundamentals, many analysts and investors are now speculating whether UACN could reach or exceed the N100 target, especially if favourable sector and macroeconomic conditions hold.
Nigeria’s economic growth, which is driven by a resilient non-oil sector, underpins consumer demand and provides a favourable backdrop for consumer-goods firms like UACN. Sustained stock gains could signal growing investor confidence in the non-oil economy’s potential.
