The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has relocated its 2026 National Capital Market Conference from the Presidential Villa in Abuja to the Afreximbank African Trade Centre, ahead of the event scheduled for Monday, October 19.
Business Today NG reported the venue change on Saturday, October 17, 2026, moving the conference from the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa to the new venue in Abuja’s Central Business District.
The conference will begin at 10 a.m., with guests expected to be seated by 9:30 a.m. The new venue is at Plot 1573, Central Business District, by the Ministry of Finance, off Ralph Sodeinde Street, Abuja.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima is scheduled to attend as Special Guest of Honour, while the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, will serve as Chief Host. SEC Director-General Emomotimi Agama is listed as the conference host in the commission’s original announcement.
The conference will feature the launch of the Nigerian Capital Market Master Plan 2.0 (NCMMP 2.0), a 10-year strategic framework intended to guide the development of Nigeria’s capital market from 2026 to 2036.
According to the SEC’s announcement published on September 23, the conference will also feature the launch of the National Savings Scheme, presentations from the Capital Market Committee Technical Working Groups and the inauguration of two committees responsible for implementing the capital market master plan.
These are the NCMMP 2.0 Project Steering Committee and the Capital Market Master Plan Implementation Committee.
Business Today NG also reported that the programme would include the signing of a memorandum of understanding among the SEC, Financial Sector Deepening Africa (FSDA) and the Nigeria Revenue Service on fiscal incentives for national savings.
The planned agreement is linked to efforts to encourage savings and broaden participation in the financial system. The National Savings Scheme is intended to provide Nigerians with opportunities to save and invest for the future, while incentives are expected to encourage participation.
In its September 23, 2026 notice, the SEC said the conference would bring together public- and private-sector stakeholders to discuss measures to deepen the Nigerian capital market, strengthen domestic resource mobilisation, expand investor participation and support sustainable economic growth.
The venue change leaves the conference date and scheduled start time unchanged. Attendance is strictly by invitation, according to the SEC’s original notice.
