The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has postponed the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for applicants to its Nigeria-Russia Scholarship Programme, which was originally scheduled to hold on Monday, July 6, 2026.
The commission announced the postponement in a public notice issued over the weekend, stating that a new date for the examination would be communicated to all eligible applicants in due course.
Although the NDDC did not disclose the reason for the postponement, it assured candidates that the exercise remains an integral part of the scholarship selection process and urged applicants to await further official communication.
“The Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the NDDC Nigeria-Russia Scholarship Programme earlier scheduled for Monday, July 6, 2026, has been postponed. A new date will be announced in due course,” the commission said in the notice.
The postponement affects candidates seeking admission into the commission’s overseas scholarship scheme, which is designed to provide postgraduate education opportunities for qualified indigenes of the Niger Delta region in Russian universities.
The Nigeria-Russia Scholarship Programme forms part of the NDDC’s broader human capital development strategy aimed at strengthening technical expertise, professional capacity and specialised skills across the oil-producing region. Beneficiaries are typically selected through a competitive process that includes document verification, aptitude assessments and other screening stages before final awards are made.
Education stakeholders said the delay is unlikely to affect the overall objectives of the programme, provided the commission announces a revised timetable promptly. They noted that scholarship applicants should continue to monitor the NDDC’s official communication channels for verified updates rather than relying on unconfirmed reports circulating on social media.
For many applicants, the CBT represents a critical stage in the selection process, with successful candidates progressing to subsequent phases before the final list of scholarship recipients is released.
The latest postponement comes as public institutions increasingly rely on computer-based testing to improve transparency, efficiency and merit-based selection in recruitment and scholarship programmes.
The NDDC has advised all applicants to remain patient and await the announcement of a new examination date, reaffirming its commitment to conducting a credible and transparent selection process for the Nigeria-Russia Scholarship Programme.
