International Breweries Plc has fixed September 16, 2026, as the qualification date for its ₦84 billion Return of Capital to shareholders, with payment scheduled for September 23, 2026.

The brewer disclosed the timetable in a corporate action notice filed with the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on September 14, 2026. According to the notice, the company will distribute ₦84 billion from its share premium account to qualifying shareholders on a pro-rata cash basis.

Shareholders whose names appear on the company’s Register of Members at the close of business on September 16, 2026, will qualify for the payment. The register will close on September 17, 2026, while settlement is scheduled for September 23, 2026.

Each qualifying shareholder will receive 50 kobo per share, according to the company’s disclosure.

International Breweries said the capital return followed approval by the Securities and Exchange Commission, shareholder approval at the company’s Annual General Meeting held on July 30, 2026, and subsequent sanction by the Federal High Court.

The distribution is part of a capital reorganisation aimed at addressing the company’s accumulated losses and creating room for future shareholder returns.

International Breweries’ financial performance has also improved significantly. Its audited financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2025, showed a profit before tax of ₦88.96 billion, compared with a loss before tax of ₦111.82 billion in 2024. Revenue rose to ₦619.04 billion from ₦488.96 billion, according to the company’s audited accounts filed with the NGX.

The recovery continued in the first half of 2026. International Breweries reported a pre-tax profit of ₦74.79 billion for the six months ended June 2026, up 21.55% from ₦61.53 billion in the same period of 2025, according to its unaudited half-year results released on July 31, 2026.

The ₦84 billion distribution is a Return of Capital rather than a conventional dividend. It represents a distribution from the company’s share premium account under the approved capital reorganisation.

International Breweries said payment would be made electronically to shareholders who have completed their e-dividend registration. Shareholders who have not completed the mandate are expected to contact their registrars to facilitate payment.

The company said it would continue to update shareholders and the investing public on material developments concerning the Return of Capital.
