Residents of Enugu State will endure scheduled electricity disruptions from October 22 to 31, 2025, as Mainpower announces maintenance efforts to boost grid reliability.

The outages, affecting multiple areas, aim to fix aging infrastructure and minimize future breakdowns. Mainpower, the local distribution firm, urges residents to prepare by stocking essentials like food and water.

Key affected zones include:
Enugu North: Ngwo, Abakpa Nike, and parts of Independent Layout.
Enugu South: Uwani, New Haven, and Trans Ekulu.
Enugu East: Nike, Emene, and surrounding communities.
Nsukka: University Town, Odenigbo, and Obiagu.
Udi: Udi town and nearby villages.

Daily cuts will last 4-6 hours, typically from 8 AM to 4 PM, varying by neighborhood. A full schedule is available on Mainpower’s website and social media.

“These disruptions are unavoidable to ensure long-term power stability,” stated Mainpower’s Operations Manager, Chinedu Okoro.

To cope, experts recommend:
Using solar lamps or inverters.
Cooking meals early in the morning.
Charging devices overnight.

Business owners, especially in markets like Ogbete, should adjust operations. Hospitals and schools have backup generators.

This initiative follows recent nationwide grid failures, highlighting Nigeria’s power woes. Mainpower promises compensation via extended supply post-maintenance.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and assure minimal impact,” added Okoro.
