Analysts Forecast Stronger Economic Growth for Nigeria in 2026

Nigeria’s economy is projected to grow by more than 4 percent in 2026, supported by ongoing economic reforms, improved private sector participation, and gradual macroeconomic stabilisation, according to analysts and development institutions.

The growth outlook is anchored on expectations of stronger performance in non-oil sectors such as telecommunications, financial services, agriculture, and manufacturing. Analysts say recent reforms in the foreign exchange market and fuel pricing, while initially painful, are beginning to create clearer signals for investors.

Private investment is expected to play a critical role, particularly in infrastructure, energy, and digital services. Improved policy clarity and reduced market distortions are seen as key factors that could unlock long-delayed investments.

However, risks remain. Inflation continues to erode purchasing power, while exchange rate volatility and high interest rates could constrain business expansion. Security challenges and global economic uncertainty also pose downside risks to growth projections.

Experts stress that sustaining growth will require disciplined policy implementation, improved productivity, and targeted social interventions to cushion vulnerable households.
