Amazon Launches “Amazon Bazaar” in Nigeria, Bringing Ultra-Low-Price Shopping to Millions

Amazon has unveiled a new app in Nigeria, named Amazon Bazaar, which extends its budget-friendly shopping experience to the country. The standalone platform offers hundreds of thousands of affordable items across categories including fashion, home goods and lifestyle. The majority of products are priced under ₦15,000, with some as inexpensive as ₦3,000.

Customers who spend at least ₦30,000 qualify for free delivery, and new users can enjoy a 50% discount on their first purchase.  Beyond low prices, the app features interactive elements such as social lucky draws and promotional deals designed for value-conscious shoppers.

Amazon retains its trademark quality by applying rigorous product compliance checks, maintaining review systems, and offering a return window of 15 days. Shoppers can use existing Amazon credentials, pay in local currency (NGN), and choose from various card options including Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

By localising the experience, with currency support, a Nigerian storefront presence and free shipping thresholds, Amazon is adapting its global budget-shopping model to the Nigerian market. The launch makes Nigeria part of a wider rollout that includes 14 other countries.

Nigeria’s e-commerce sector, already growing rapidly, could see fresh momentum with Amazon’s entry. By tapping value-focused consumers and fostering competitive pricing, the move may drive down costs, increase consumer buying power and disrupt local retail markets,  but it also raises questions about the impact on domestic sellers and logistics infrastructure.
