Airtel Nigeria has strengthened its nationwide retail and distribution network as part of its efforts to make telecommunications services more accessible to millions of Nigerians. The expansion is aimed at improving customer experience while meeting the growing demand for digital and mobile services across the country.

According to the company, its retail ecosystem has grown to include more than 4,000 exclusive Airtel shops and over 200,000 retail touch-points spread across Nigeria. These touch-points consist of partner stores, authorised dealers, channel partners and neighbourhood agents, making it easier for customers to access Airtel products and services wherever they are.

With the expanded network, subscribers can conveniently complete SIM registration, purchase mobile devices, recharge airtime and data, receive customer support and enjoy a wide range of digital services without travelling long distances.

Airtel Nigeria said the expansion reflects its commitment to bringing its services closer to customers and ensuring they receive faster and more reliable support in their communities.

The Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Dinesh Balsingh, explained that building telecommunications infrastructure alone is not enough to provide excellent customer service. According to him, maintaining a strong retail presence across the country allows the company to better understand customer needs and deliver quality services more efficiently.

He noted that Airtel will continue investing in its retail and distribution channels to ensure subscribers enjoy a consistent experience regardless of where they live or work.

Balsingh added that being closer to customers enables the company to respond more quickly to their needs while supporting Nigeria’s rapidly growing digital economy.

Also speaking on the company’s strategy, the Director of Sales and Distribution, Joypratip Sengupta, said Airtel’s retail success is driven by a combination of efficient logistics, strong business partnerships and active engagement with local communities.

He explained that the company has built a distribution system that ensures products and services reach customers quickly and efficiently across different parts of the country.

According to Sengupta, the network has been designed to support seamless service delivery while meeting the increasing demand for connectivity and digital solutions among individuals and businesses.

Beyond improving customer access, Airtel believes the expansion is also creating economic opportunities for thousands of Nigerians. The company said its growing retail ecosystem supports entrepreneurs, distributors, retailers and small business owners who work within its value chain.

These businesses not only help distribute Airtel products but also generate employment and income in their local communities, contributing to broader economic development.

The company noted that Nigeria’s digital economy continues to expand as more people depend on mobile phones and internet connectivity for banking, online learning, business operations, entertainment and everyday communication.

As digital adoption rises, demand for reliable telecom services, cloud solutions and other technology-driven services is also increasing. Airtel said it is positioning itself to meet these growing needs through continuous investments in both network infrastructure and customer service.

Industry experts believe that expanding retail access remains an important strategy for telecom operators, particularly in a country as large and diverse as Nigeria. A wider distribution network allows customers in urban and rural communities to access services more easily while helping operators build stronger relationships with subscribers.

With its latest expansion, Airtel Nigeria says it remains committed to providing reliable connectivity, improving customer satisfaction and supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation through greater service accessibility across every region of the country.
