Dangote Industries has appointed MTN Group Chief Executive Officer Ralph Mupita to the board of Dangote Fertiliser Limited, marking a significant move as the company gears up for expansion and a planned stock market listing in Nigeria.
Mupita, a seasoned executive with experience in telecoms, finance, and governance, brings valuable expertise to the board, particularly in navigating complex regulatory environments and driving growth.
The appointment comes as Dangote Fertiliser prepares to become one of the world’s largest fertiliser producers, with plans to expand its Lagos facility and construct a new plant in Ethiopia.
The company’s 3 million metric tonne granulated urea production capacity is poised to meet growing demand for agricultural inputs in Africa, where population growth and food security concerns are driving investment in the sector.
Mupita’s experience in leading MTN Nigeria’s successful listing in 2019 and growing the company’s revenue fourfold since then will be invaluable in guiding Dangote Fertiliser’s IPO plans.
The listing is expected to attract significant interest from global funds seeking exposure to African manufacturing and could be a major milestone for Nigeria’s capital markets.
