Infinity Trust Mortgage Bank Plc (ITMB) has announced an impressive set of financial results for the year ended December 31, 2025, marking a standout performance in Nigeria’s mortgage banking sector. The company reported a pre-tax profit of ₦3.02 billion, a significant increase from the previous year, underscoring the strength of its core lending operations and a strategic push into mortgage finance.
This growth underscores the bank’s expanding footprint in housing finance at a time when the Nigerian economy is navigating shifting monetary conditions, evolving inflation trends, and cautious but sustained market confidence. Recent moves by the Central Bank, such as cuts to the key policy rate and gradual inflation moderation, have begun to ease borrowing costs and improve prospects for credit expansion across sectors, including housing finance. These broader economic shifts create both opportunities and challenges for lenders like Infinity Trust Mortgage Bank, influencing demand for long-term loans and mortgage products in a fluctuating macroeconomic environment.
At the heart of the results was robust growth in gross earnings, which climbed to ₦6.61 billion, a more than 50 percent increase compared to the previous year. This performance was driven by healthy increases in interest income, expansion in the bank’s lending book, and effective management of credit risk.
Interest income, the backbone of ITMB’s business model, surged to ₦5.53 billion, up more than half from the prior year. This reflects the bank’s continued success in generating revenue from loans and advances, particularly mortgage loans, which remain a central focus of its strategy.
Gross Earnings: N6.61 billion, up 50.5% year-on-year (YoY)
Interest Income: N5.53 billion, up 54.3% YoY
The increase in interest income also contributed to a broader expansion in net interest income, which climbed significantly over the prior year. Combined with strong fee and commission income and controlled impairment charges, this trend helped lift overall profitability despite higher operating costs.
Profit after tax also saw a remarkable turnaround, rising to ₦2.9 billion compared to the previous year. This result highlights not just top-line growth, but also improved bottom-line performance, signaling efficient operations and disciplined cost management.
Beyond profitability, Infinity Trust Mortgage Bank’s asset base expanded sharply, rising by more than three-quarters as the bank scaled up its lending operations and diversified its balance sheet. Total assets grew significantly, with loans and advances to customers accounting for a substantial share of this growth, especially in the mortgage segment.
Shareholder equity also strengthened, reflecting both retained earnings from higher profitability and the bank’s ongoing commitment to building a resilient capital position capable of supporting future expansion and risk absorption.
Total Loans and Advances: N30.0 billion, up 85.3% YoY
While the stock price remained relatively flat over the reporting period, investors have taken note of the improved earnings per share and potential for enhanced dividend payouts as the bank continues to translate strong results into shareholder value.
Looking ahead, ITMB is well positioned to benefit from Nigeria’s housing finance gap, an area with strong demand due to population growth and urbanisation. However, the broader economic backdrop, including shifts in policy rates, inflation dynamics, and overall credit conditions, will continue to influence the pace and cost of mortgage lending nationwide.
