Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has called upon members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state to view their service year as a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of Nigeria while actively contributing to national unity and development.
The Governor’s charge was delivered on Tuesday in Kaduna at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Orientation Course for corps members. Represented by the state’s Commissioner of Youth Development, Gloria Ibrahim, Governor Sani commended the youth for successfully completing the rigorous three-week programme, praising their discipline, resilience, and commitment throughout the period.
“As you step out of this camp and into your host communities, know that the NYSC year is more than just a service; it is your chance to really know Nigeria, and for Nigeria to know you,” the Governor remarked. He stressed that their primary focus must be on integration and safety, advising them to remain vigilant and always report any suspicious situation or activity to the appropriate authorities without delay.
The Governor strongly encouraged the corps members to immerse themselves in the culture of their host communities by striving to learn local languages, participating in local activities, and consciously building bridges across ethnic and religious lines. He urged them to leave a positive footprint wherever they are posted, whether they are serving in schools, health facilities, or government offices, noting that their small contributions could make a lasting positive impact on the communities they serve. He assured the corps members of the Kaduna State Government’s commitment to improving camp and welfare facilities, reaffirming the state’s belief in the vital ideals of the NYSC scheme.
In her address, the state NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Efeke Dadaza, praised the corps members for demonstrating a high level of resilience and dedication during their orientation. She confirmed that they actively took part in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training, sports, and all other camp activities, expressing confidence that they possess the skills and discipline required to excel during their service year.
Mrs. Dadaza advised the corps members to accept their postings in good faith and to remain exemplary ambassadors of both their families and their institutions. She specifically urged them to participate actively in Community Development Service (CDS) projects, underscoring that these activities are crucial for positively impacting their host communities. The Coordinator concluded by appreciating the Kaduna State Government for its unwavering support in improving camp welfare, as well as thanking all camp officials, partners, and stakeholders for their contributions to the success of the entire programme.
