VFD Group Plc has appointed Ijeoma Emezie Ezigbo as its Deputy Managing Director and Executive Director, in a move aimed at strengthening the company’s leadership structure and corporate governance.
The appointment took effect on October 5, 2026, following a notice filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited. The company said the creation of the new executive position is part of its broader effort to build stronger leadership structures, improve succession planning and support the group’s long term growth. Emezie Ezigbo brings more than 20 years of experience across corporate finance, transaction advisory, mergers and acquisitions, business valuation and strategic financial management.
Her professional career spans Nigeria, Canada and other African markets. Before joining VFD Group, she served as Partner and Head of Transaction Services, West Africa, at KPMG Nigeria, where she was involved in transaction advisory assignments across the region. She has also held senior positions at Stanbic IBTC Group, IBM Canada and Canadian Tire Corporation. Commenting on the appointment, VFD Group’s Group Managing Director, Nonso Okpala, said the new position was created to deepen the company’s institutional structure.

Emezie Ezigbo holds a First Class Honours degree in Business Administration, specialising in Marketing, from the University of Nigeria. She also has a Master of Finance degree from Cass Business School in London and completed the Advanced Management Programme at Lagos Business School. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, an Associate Chartered Certified Accountant in the United Kingdom, a Chartered Professional Accountant in Ontario, Canada, and a Certified Valuation Analyst.
VFD Group said her appointment is expected to strengthen its governance framework and strategic oversight as the company manages a growing portfolio of businesses across different markets. The company also said the move reflects its focus on developing leadership capacity that can support the organisation beyond the contribution of individual executives. Emezie Ezigbo will join the group’s executive leadership alongside Group Managing Director Nonso Okpala and Executive Directors Folajimi Adeleye and Morenike Ominike. The board is chaired by Olatunde Busari, SAN.
The appointment is part of VFD Group’s wider institutionalisation strategy, which focuses on stronger governance, leadership continuity and organisational capacity.
