The Federal Government has introduced a new digital platform, the CLHEEAN app, aimed at strengthening communication between citizens and public institutions. The initiative, led by the National Orientation Agency, is designed to improve how Nigerians access information, give feedback, and take part in governance.

Unveiled in Abuja, the application uses artificial intelligence to simplify interaction between the government and the public. It is expected to address long standing communication gaps by providing a direct and interactive channel for citizens across the country.

The platform is built around key national focus areas including crime, lawlessness, health, education, environment, abuse, and nationalism. These pillars are intended to promote awareness, civic responsibility, and shared national values.

Speaking at the launch, the Director General of the agency highlighted the purpose of the initiative, stating, “The CLHEEAN mobile app is one platform with one mission; to ensure that every Nigerian can access information, engage directly, and most importantly, be heard.” This underscores the government’s goal of making governance more inclusive and responsive.

The CLHEEAN app includes a range of features designed for accessibility and ease of use. Users can receive real time updates, access civic education materials, and interact with the platform through tools that allow them to share opinions or report issues. A key feature is its AI driven voice and chat assistant, which supports multiple Nigerian languages such as Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo, making it accessible to a wider audience.

Officials explained that the app will also serve as a feedback system, enabling authorities to gather real time insights from citizens. This will help policymakers better understand public concerns and adapt strategies accordingly. The move reflects a growing emphasis on data driven governance, where citizen input plays a central role in decision making.

Beyond digital engagement, the government acknowledged the need to reach citizens who may not have internet access. As a result, traditional media such as radio will continue to complement the app. The agency currently collaborates with numerous radio stations broadcasting in different local languages to ensure broader reach.

The introduction of the CLHEEAN app is part of wider efforts to enhance transparency, accountability, and public participation in governance. It aligns with national development priorities focused on improving service delivery and strengthening trust between citizens and the government.

Officials expressed confidence that the platform will help rebuild public trust by making communication more open and accessible. As noted during the unveiling, “government is now in your pocket.”

Overall, the launch of the CLHEEAN app represents a significant step in Nigeria’s push towards digital governance. By combining technology with citizen engagement, the government aims to create a more connected, informed, and participatory society.
