Zenith Bank has partnered with Visa to introduce a new high end payment card in Nigeria, targeted at customers who want more value, flexibility, and global access from their banking services.
The product, called the Visa Signature Card, was unveiled at an event in Lagos, where top executives from both organisations highlighted its importance. The card is designed for high net worth individuals who require convenience and premium benefits in their everyday transactions.
Speaking at the launch, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank, Ebenezer Onyeagwu, said the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to delivering tailored services to its premium customers. He explained that the introduction of the card aligns with the bank’s broader strategy to expand offerings for clients who demand more sophisticated financial solutions.
He said, “the initiative aims to bolster the bank’s long standing focus on high value individuals.” This statement reinforces the bank’s focus on creating products that meet the specific expectations of this customer segment.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of Zenith Bank, Adaora Umeoji, noted that the new card builds on the bank’s existing range of offerings, including Gold and Platinum cards. According to her, the Visa Signature Card represents a step forward in providing enhanced services and exclusive benefits to customers.
From Visa’s side, the Vice President and Head of West Africa at Visa, Andrew Uaboi, described the partnership as a strategic move to strengthen digital payments and improve customer experience in Nigeria. He noted that the collaboration will give cardholders access to Visa’s global network, enabling seamless transactions across borders.
One of the major attractions of the card is its lifestyle and travel benefits. Users will enjoy access to exclusive privileges, special discounts, and premium services across different locations worldwide. These features are particularly useful for customers who travel frequently or engage in international business.
In addition, the card offers improved security and reliability, supported by Visa’s global payment infrastructure. This ensures that users can carry out transactions with confidence, whether locally or internationally.
Industry observers note that the launch reflects a growing trend in Nigeria’s banking sector, where financial institutions are increasingly focusing on high value customers. Rather than offering generic services, banks are now introducing specialised products that combine banking with lifestyle benefits.
With this move, Zenith Bank is strengthening its position in the premium banking segment. The introduction of the Visa Signature Card is expected to deepen customer loyalty while attracting new clients seeking more than just basic banking services.
Overall, the partnership between Zenith Bank and Visa highlights a shift towards more personalised and experience driven banking. The new card goes beyond being a payment tool, serving as a gateway to convenience, exclusivity, and global financial access for Nigerian customers.
