Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is set to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) today, paving the way for a potential joint presidential ticket with Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the 2027 general election.
Kwankwaso’s camp has confirmed ongoing discussions with Obi’s team, and the former governor is expected to declare his intention to run for president under the ADC platform.
He will be received by ADC National Chairman, David Mark, and Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola.
Kwankwaso recently resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), citing the need for strategic realignment in Nigeria’s political landscape.
He expressed gratitude to NNPP leadership and members, and acknowledged the Kwankwasiyya Movement and party supporters for their commitment.
The development has sparked excitement among supporters, who see the potential alliance as a strong contender in the 2027 presidential election.
