Energia Ltd., an independent oil and gas firm, has announced the appointment of Mr Oladimeji Bashorun as its new Chief Executive Officer, following the departure of Mr Chidi Egonu.

The announcement was made in a statement released on Monday in Lagos, confirming a leadership transition within the company. Bashorun, who previously served as Chief Operating Officer, stepped into the role after years of contributing to the organisation’s strategic direction and operational success.

During his time as COO, Bashorun played a key role in overseeing daily operations, improving efficiency, and supporting the company’s long term growth plans. His leadership helped strengthen operational systems and ensured the company remained focused on delivering consistent performance.

Energia described him as an experienced professional in the oil and gas sector, with over 20 years of industry knowledge. Before joining the company, he held several technical and managerial roles at Shell Petroleum Development Company and later at Sahara Upstream.

In those positions, he was actively involved in managing assets, leading operations, and implementing strategies to improve stability and overall performance. These experiences, the company noted, have prepared him for his new leadership role.

The Chairman of Energia, Mr George Osahon, praised Bashorun’s contributions and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the company forward.

“Oladimeji Bashorun has demonstrated exceptional leadership and deep industry expertise during his time as Chief Operating Officer.

“His commitment to operational excellence and strategic growth has been instrumental to Energia’s progress.

“The Board is confident that under his leadership as Chief Executive Officer, the company will continue to strengthen its position as a key player in the industry, while delivering sustained value to its stakeholders,” he said.

In his response, Bashorun expressed gratitude for the opportunity and shared his vision for the company’s future.

“I am honoured to assume the role of Chief Executive Officer of Energia.

“Working closely with a talented team that drives the company’s success, I look forward to building on our achievements and advancing Energia’s commitment to operational excellence, responsible energy development, and value creation for our stakeholders,” he said.

The company added that under his leadership, it will focus on improving performance, exploring new opportunities, and supporting Nigeria’s energy needs, while maintaining strong environmental and community standards.
