An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and one of the governorship aspirants ahead of Ekiti State’s 2026 election has called for fairness and inclusiveness in the party’s ongoing electronic registration exercise.
Kayode Ojo, speaking through a statement from his campaign team in Ado Ekiti, urged party members across the state to take part actively in the e-registration process so that irregularities can be corrected. His remarks come amid lingering discontent from last year’s governorship primary, when his supporters alleged that their names were removed from the party’s register without justification.
Ojo said the exercise presented an opportunity for those who felt disenfranchised in the past to revalidate their membership and ensure their names were properly captured on the APC register. He appealed directly to his supporters whose names were allegedly dropped, saying they should use the e-registration to formally rejoin the party.
In the statement, he also encouraged residents of Ekiti State who are members of other political parties to take advantage of the exercise by formally joining the APC. Ojo described the ruling party as a platform built on “progressive ideals”, with policies aimed at improving socio-economic conditions under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
Ojo praised the APC national leadership’s decision to adopt electronic registration, suggesting it was a positive step towards strengthening internal party democracy. He said the initiative could help restore confidence among members, affirm equal rights and deepen a sense of belonging within the party.
The APC governorship hopeful also urged anyone facing difficulties during the registration process to lodge their complaints either at the party’s State Secretariat in Ajilosun, Ado Ekiti, or at the Kayode Ojo Campaign Organisation office, also in Ajilosun. He described the current period as one requiring active political participation from citizens, especially those keen to shape their future through engagement with policies focused on sustainable reforms and improved welfare.
The APC in Ekiti State began its national e-registration exercise on Monday, with party leaders across the state urging members to participate fully. The State Coordinator of the registration exercise said it was a vital step for confirming members’ loyalty and commitment, strengthening the party’s grassroots structures and ensuring accurate documentation of its membership ahead of future elections.
