Egyptian businessman Hani Berzi has added $8.35 million to his fortune over the past 40 days, thanks to his controlling stake in Edita Food Industries.

Berzi, chairman and managing director of Edita, holds a 44.07% stake in the company, which has seen significant growth driven by steady consumer demand for packaged foods in Egypt.

Edita’s market capitalization has surpassed $670 million, with its share price rising 5.86% in the past 12 days.

The company’s strong performance has made it one of the top-performing stocks on the EGX this year, up 65.77% since January.

Berzi’s investment in Edita has proven lucrative, with his stake increasing from EGP6.79 billion ($142.32 million) to EGP7.19 billion ($150.67 million) over the past 40 days.

This follows a significant gain of $26.4 million between September 23 and October 25, making it one of the most substantial short-term gains for a major shareholder on the EGX this year.
