Dangote Salt has strengthened its connection with consumers and traditional industries through a series of community engagement activities across Kano State during the Eid celebration period.

The initiative focused on highlighting the importance of salt in everyday life, traditional craftsmanship, and healthy living while building stronger relationships with artisans, traders, and consumers.

The outreach began at Yan Mota, one of Kano’s historic leather-processing communities. The area is widely known for its long-standing contribution to leather production, a trade that has helped establish Kano as an important leather manufacturing center in West Africa.

During the visit, members of the community discussed how salt plays a vital role in preserving animal hides before they are processed into leather products. To support their work, Dangote Salt distributed 50-kilogram industrial bags of salt to artisans within the tanning community.

The engagement team later visited the famous Kofar Mata dye pits, a location renowned for traditional textile dyeing. Craftsmen demonstrated how locally dyed fabrics are produced using techniques that have been passed down through generations.

According to the artisans, salt is an important ingredient in the dyeing process because it helps improve fabric treatment and ensures consistent dye quality. As part of the visit, members of the dyeing community also received 50-kilogram industrial bags of Dangote Salt.

The company explained that the visits were aimed at appreciating communities whose businesses and livelihoods depend on products such as salt for their daily operations.

The campaign concluded at Sabon Gari Market, where Dangote Salt and Dangote Seasoning organized a consumer-focused activation programme. The event attracted traders, shoppers, and residents who participated in product demonstrations and educational discussions.

Attendees learned more about nutrition, food preparation, and healthy consumption habits through interactive sessions designed to create awareness about the benefits of iodised salt and proper dietary practices.

Speaking during the event, Sales Operations Manager at NASCON Allied Industries Plc, Salisu Balarabe, emphasized the importance of markets as a direct link between companies and consumers.

He noted that markets remain central to community life and provide valuable opportunities for businesses to engage with customers beyond buying and selling. According to him, the company wants consumers to understand not only its products but also the value they bring to households and daily living.

A health and wellness session was also held during the programme. Medical practitioner Amina Sa’id Muhammad educated participants on the benefits of refined and iodised salt, healthy nutrition, and overall wellbeing.

Traders and retailers were given the opportunity to ask questions about iodine intake, salt consumption, hydration, muscle function, and common misconceptions about the role of salt in maintaining good health.

The Head of Marketing at NASCON Allied Industries Plc, Zainab Abbas, said the campaign was designed to bring the brand closer to the people it serves.

She explained that the company believes strong brands are built through meaningful community relationships and that the initiative was intended to position Dangote Salt and Dangote Seasoning as products that are part of everyday family and community experiences.

The event also featured a special appearance by actor and musician Umar M Shareef, who interacted with attendees and entertained guests with a live performance.

Field Sales Officer Kamal Jibrin Yakubu thanked traders and community members for their participation, describing the programme as an opportunity to listen, engage, and create positive experiences.

Overall, the campaign reflected Dangote Salt’s commitment to connecting with consumers, supporting traditional industries, and promoting healthier lifestyles across communities and marketplaces.
