The Dangote Group has strongly denied recent claims suggesting a disagreement between its President, Aliko Dangote, and businessman Tony Elumelu. The company described these reports as false, misleading, and created to cause unnecessary controversy.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the group addressed a widely shared publication that alleged Dangote had explained why he distanced himself from Elumelu. According to the company, neither Dangote nor the organisation ever made such comments. The report was labeled as completely baseless and an inaccurate representation of both individuals’ relationship.

The statement emphasized that there is no conflict between the two business leaders. Instead, it reaffirmed that they have maintained a long-standing and cordial relationship over the years. The company made it clear that any suggestion of a fallout is untrue and should be disregarded.

In addition to denying claims of a personal rift, the Dangote Group also rejected allegations regarding the financing of its major refinery project. Reports had circulated online claiming that Dangote sought financial help from friends and business associates to complete the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. The company firmly stated that such claims are incorrect and misleading.

According to the group, Dangote does not fund his projects through informal personal loans or private borrowing from friends. It stressed that any claims suggesting otherwise must be supported by credible and verifiable evidence. The company described the circulating story as a deliberate attempt to distort facts about the refinery’s funding.

The false report also included specific claims that Dangote approached several prominent business figures for financial assistance during the construction of the refinery. It alleged that some individuals contributed large sums of money, while others failed to fulfill their promises. However, the Dangote Group has dismissed the entire narrative, stating that it was fabricated and should not be linked to its president.

Beyond addressing these specific claims, the company raised concerns about a growing trend of misinformation involving Dangote’s name. It pointed out that fake statements and digitally manipulated content are increasingly being shared online. In particular, the misuse of Dangote’s identity in artificial intelligence-generated advertisements and misleading materials has become a serious issue.

The group warned that such actions could harm its reputation and may also amount to fraud. It urged individuals, organizations, and online platforms to stop spreading false information immediately. The company also made it clear that it is prepared to take legal action against anyone responsible for creating or distributing misleading content.

Despite the controversy, the Dangote Group reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining integrity in its operations. It highlighted its ongoing contributions to economic growth and industrial development across Africa, especially in promoting self-sufficiency and sustainable progress.
