The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has publicly named 15 companies whose claimed registration numbers do not appear in its official records, raising serious doubts about their legitimacy.
In a statement published on Tuesday, the commission said its attention was drawn to a number of business names and registration numbers circulating in various documents that are not recognised in its registry. The CAC therefore cautioned the public to “exercise the highest level of caution” before engaging with any of those firms.
The entities under scrutiny include, among others, Famas Services Nigeria Limited (RC 216312), Promo Dutch Investment Limited (RC 396654), Dialack Concept Nig. Ltd (RC 297772), Purpleheart Construction and Real Estate Mgt. Co. Ltd (RC 1210548), and Loktu Enterprises (BN 373466 / BN 400390).
Other firms on the list include Badatoyak Ltd, Johson Nats Limited, Peoples Club Nigeria International, Jiba Enterprise, Civil Engineering Solutions Nigeria Limited, Gabdoff Hotel Ltd, Amoka Group, BEEC Nigeria Limited and S. Adetunji.
According to the CAC, the falsified or unregistered RC (registration certificate) or BN (business name) numbers mean these entities do not have legal recognition under the law. Any deals or contracts with them could be risky and legally unenforceable.
The advisory underscores that the integrity of corporate registration in Nigeria is critical not just for legal compliance, but also for protecting investors and the public from fraud. The CAC called on anyone doing business with companies to always verify their status directly via the official CAC portal before committing to any transaction.
This crackdown helps restore trust in Nigeria’s corporate registry, which is vital for investor confidence. By exposing fake firms, the CAC helps safeguard investment flows and reduces the risk of financial losses, a move that supports economic stability and encourages legitimate business activity in Nigeria’s fragile economy.
