Air Peace has cancelled one of its scheduled flights from Warri to Lagos after an aircraft was involved in a bird strike while landing at Osubi Airport in Delta State.

The airline announced the development through a statement issued by its spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, over the weekend. According to the airline, the incident occurred when a bird collided with the aircraft during its landing process at Osubi Airport.

Following the bird strike, Air Peace immediately activated its standard safety procedures to ensure that the aircraft undergoes a thorough inspection before returning to operation. The airline explained that safety remains its highest priority and that all necessary checks must be completed before the aircraft can be cleared for future flights.

As a result of the incident, the scheduled Warri-Lagos service was cancelled. Air Peace stated that the decision was taken to allow its engineering and maintenance teams sufficient time to conduct detailed technical assessments of the aircraft. These inspections are intended to determine whether the aircraft remains fully airworthy and safe for passengers and crew.

Bird strikes are a common challenge in the aviation industry and can sometimes cause damage to aircraft components, particularly engines, windshields, and other critical systems. Because of the potential risks involved, airlines are required to carry out comprehensive inspections whenever such incidents occur.

Air Peace emphasized that it would not compromise on safety standards under any circumstance. The airline noted that every maintenance decision is guided by strict aviation regulations and international best practices designed to protect passengers and ensure safe flight operations.

The carrier also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to travelers whose plans were affected by the flight cancellation. It appealed to passengers for patience and understanding while the necessary inspections and maintenance procedures are completed.

According to the airline, taking preventive measures after incidents such as bird strikes is an important part of maintaining operational safety and reliability. The company reassured customers that the cancellation was made purely in the interest of passenger welfare and flight safety.

Air Peace further reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high operational standards across its network. The airline said it remains dedicated to ensuring that every aircraft in its fleet meets all required safety and maintenance standards before being deployed for commercial service.

The incident highlights the importance of strict safety protocols within the aviation sector. While flight disruptions can be frustrating for passengers, industry experts note that thorough inspections following bird strikes are necessary to prevent potential safety risks.

As investigations and technical assessments continue, affected passengers are expected to receive updates from the airline regarding alternative travel arrangements and the status of future operations on the route.

Air Peace assured customers that it remains focused on delivering safe, reliable, and efficient air transport services while prioritizing the safety of passengers, crew members, and aircraft at all times.
