South African billionaire Patrice Motsepe is having a great start to the year, with his net worth jumping by $200 million since January 1st to reach an impressive $3.9 billion.

This gain continues the strong momentum from 2025, when his fortune grew by $700 million.

The recent boost is largely thanks to the performance of his holdings in African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) and Harmony Gold, which have seen their share prices climb 7% and 11% respectively so far this year.

Beyond his core mining assets, Motsepe’s wealth is also growing through his investment firm, African Rainbow Capital, which has successfully expanded into financial services and technology.

A key example is his venture into the digital banking platform Tyme Group, which has significantly contributed to his financial success.
