Throughout the first 11 months of 2025, Nigeria’s combined crude oil and condensate production averaged a steady 1.64 million barrels per day, according to official data from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
This output is crucial for the nation’s economy, representing a large part of government revenue and foreign exchange.
Production levels saw some variation during the year, starting strong at 1.73 million barrels per day in January, dipping to a low of 1.58 million in September due to operational issues like a strike, and then stabilizing around 1.59 million barrels per day through October and November.
Despite these ongoing challenges, which have historically included pipeline vandalism and infrastructure deficits, the consistent reporting by the NUPRC aims to boost transparency and investor confidence in the sector.
This performance is part of a larger effort to increase output, with the NUPRC setting a bold target to raise production to 2.5 million barrels per day by 2026.
