The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria has suspended its nationwide strike after reaching a resolution with the management of Dangote Refinery.

The decision was announced by PENGASSAN President Festus Osifo at a press conference in Abuja, citing respect for national institutions and the federal government’s mediation efforts.

Despite lingering dissatisfaction with parts of the agreement, Osifo warned that the union would resume the strike without notice if the refinery fails to honor the terms.

The dispute arose after the company dismissed workers for joining the union, prompting PENGASSAN to direct members to cut crude oil and gas supply to the refinery.

A compromise was reached following a meeting between the union, Dangote Group, and government representatives, including the National Security Adviser.
