Nigeria Stock Market Bounces Back as Cement Demand Lifts NGX

The Nigerian equities market staged a rebound on Tuesday, as fresh buying interest in Dangote Cement Plc (DANGCEM) helped lift the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) All-Share Index (ASI) by 1.20%.

Trading activity was robust: as the ASI climbed, market capitalisation rose to around ₦92.37 trillion from the prior session’s ₦91.08 trillion. The rally appears driven by renewed investor optimism, particularly around heavyweight stocks such as DANGCEM and other large-cap industrials.

Behind the recovery is a broader return of confidence in the Nigerian capital market. After ₦28.5 trillion in gains over the first 11 months of 2025, thanks largely to policy reforms, stronger liquidity, and renewed inflows. Investors seem increasingly willing to re-engage with equities.

Analysts say this rebound reflects more than short-term trading; it signals faith in Nigeria’s macroeconomic direction. The lift in DANGCEM’s share price demonstrates how influential large-cap industrials remain in shaping overall market sentiment.

The resurgence on NGX underscores a broader economic dynamic: as stability returns to foreign-exchange markets and liquidity improves, investors are shifting capital from fixed-income instruments back into equities. This rotation is boosting the real economy by channeling funds into companies with strong earning potential, encouraging corporate expansion, job creation, and increased industrial activity.
