UAC of Nigeria Plc has reaffirmed its social commitment to nation-building through education with the 2025 edition of its Annual Book Donation Drive. As part of its Goal 2030 Social Commitment, UAC’s initiative continues to expand access to educational tools for children in underserved Lagos communities, laying the foundation for long-term economic growth.

The program, which benefitted pupils from Anglican Girls Seminary School and Christ Church Cathedral Primary School, emphasizes that early childhood education is key to developing confident, capable Nigerians. Chief Operating Officer Queenette Durosinmi-Etti explained, “Early Childhood Education remains one of the most powerful tools for building a sustainable future.”

Beyond its philanthropic impact, the initiative carries measurable economic benefits. Studies have shown that early education enhances literacy, improves lifelong productivity, and strengthens the human capital needed to sustain Nigeria’s growing economy. By ensuring children have access to books and learning resources, UAC is contributing to workforce preparedness and helping to reduce future unemployment.

The program also encourages academic excellence by rewarding high-performing pupils and supporting their overall well-being. Through this, UAC helps families break intergenerational cycles of poverty, positioning education as a driver of inclusive growth. Investment in early learning not only equips children with critical thinking skills but also creates ripple effects across sectors, fueling innovation, entrepreneurship, and a knowledge-driven economy.

This year’s expansion of the initiative aligns with the federal government’s emphasis on education as a tool for social and economic transformation. UAC’s strategy complements national goals by bridging gaps in access to quality learning materials, particularly in densely populated urban areas like Lagos Island. The company’s consistent advocacy for childhood education underscores the private sector’s role in national development.

From an economic standpoint, such social investments serve as strategic workforce pipelines. As more children gain literacy skills early, Nigeria’s future labor market becomes more skilled, competitive, and productive. Every book donated today represents a long-term investment in the nation’s intellectual and economic capital.

In essence, UAC’s efforts highlight a sustainable model of corporate citizenship, one that connects education with empowerment and aligns business growth with community progress. By nurturing young minds, the company is not only shaping brighter futures but also fueling Lagos’s broader ambition of becoming a hub for education, innovation, and human development.
