The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has taken a bold step forward by unveiling its new annual accolade: the Public Relations, Reputation, Ideas, Concepts and Excellence (PRICE) Awards and Prizes. The initiative positions itself as the institute’s flagship platform “for the curation, recognition, exhibition and celebration of outstanding campaigns and accomplishments in the practice of public relations in Nigeria.”
At the launch, NIPR formalised the creation of a 12-member organising committee. In her remarks, Ms. Neliaku said: “We have carefully selected you to chart this path for us. Some of you have done us proud on the international stage winning major awards and flying Nigeria’s flag on the global stage.” The committee’s chair, Mr. Israel JaiyeOpayemi, a fellow of the institute and MD/Chief Strategist of Chain Reactions Africa, pledged the team’s resolve to deliver “a best-in-class award administration and ceremony” for Nigeria’s public relations community.
The first edition of the awards is scheduled to take place in Abuja, signalling NIPR’s commitment to elevating PR standards across Nigeria. By recognising exceptional work in PR, the association is aiming to uplift professional practice in the sector, and bring wider visibility to public relations as a key driver of organisational reputation and stakeholder communication.
Beyond recognition, the PRICE Awards can stimulate economic value by promoting stronger reputation management among businesses, which in turn can enhance investor confidence, brand equity and market competitiveness, factors that contribute to growth in Nigeria’s services sector and the broader creative economy.
