The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has recorded its highest-ever single-day revenue collection after generating ₦28.1 billion within 24 hours on August 18, 2026.

The command collected exactly ₦28,102,000,914.61, surpassing its previous daily record of ₦20.1 billion achieved in September 2025. The latest performance represents an increase of about 39.8% over the previous record.

The new milestone comes barely weeks after the Apapa Area Command recorded ₦323 billion in revenue in July 2026, its highest monthly collection to date.

Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, the Customs Area Controller for Apapa, said the latest achievement goes beyond setting revenue records, stressing the broader contribution of the Customs Service to Nigeria’s economic development.

According to Oshoba, the performance reflects the impact of sustained reforms, improved compliance, enhanced trade facilitation, intelligence-driven interventions and greater efficiency in digital Customs processes.

He also commended Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for his leadership in advancing the modernisation and automation of Customs operations.

The record comes as the Nigeria Customs Service intensifies efforts to improve revenue collection through technology, compliance and stronger revenue recovery mechanisms. The Service has a ₦11.074 trillion revenue target for 2026, following its strong performance in 2025.

Oshoba urged officers at the command not to become complacent, stressing the need to maintain a balance between revenue generation and trade facilitation.

He also called for continued professionalism and transparency in Customs operations, as the service seeks to improve efficiency while supporting legitimate trade.

The latest record reinforces Apapa’s position as a major contributor to Nigeria’s Customs revenue and highlights the growing importance of digital reforms in improving collection efficiency at one of the country’s key maritime gateways.
