Former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has announced his resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) with immediate effect.
In a statement, Kwankwaso cited the need for strategic political realignment amid Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
Kwankwaso expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve as its National Leader and presidential candidate, describing the decision to leave as difficult.
He stated that the current trajectory of Nigeria’s politics necessitates identifying with another platform that offers a better opportunity to pursue national change.
The Kwankwasiyya Movement has confirmed that Kwankwaso will join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday, March 30, 2026.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar recently hosted Kwankwaso in Abuja, discussing national issues and signaling a potential shift in alliances ahead of the 2027 elections.
