The Managing Director of 11Plc, Adetunji Oyebanji, will retire from the company after 45 years of service.
The announcement was disclosed in a notice addressed to NASD Plc and the investing public, dated March 3, 2026. His retirement will take effect on March 31, 2026.
The Board of Directors of 11Plc expressed gratitude to Oyebanji for his leadership and contributions to the organisation throughout his decades-long career, wishing him success in his future endeavours.
Oyebanji was appointed Chairman and Managing Director of Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc in October 2008. Following the divestment of ExxonMobil from the Nigerian business, he became Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of 11Plc in April 2017.
The board described his career as a reflection of his commitment, leadership, and expertise in the oil and gas sector.
He joined Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc in 1980 as a Marketing Representative Trainee and steadily rose through several key roles within the organisation. During his career, he served as Planning Associate, Pricing Manager, District Manager, Branch Manager, Manager of Fuels Services, and Executive Director of Fuels.
His appointment as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in 2017 marked a significant milestone in his professional journey, during which he led the company through a period of transformation and operational growth.
Beyond his role at 11Plc, Oyebanji has played active leadership roles across Nigeria’s corporate and professional landscape. He currently serves as President and Chairman of the Council of the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria.
He previously served as Chairman of the Major Energy Marketers Association of Nigeria and chaired the Petroleum Downstream Group of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He was also a council member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and served on the board of the Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria for more than a decade.
His international experience includes serving as Project Associate at Mobil Oil Corporation headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia, United States, as well as Manager of Planning at Mobil Africa Sales Inc.
He also served as an Executive Director at Mobil Oil Cameroon and Mobil Oil Ethiopia before taking on a broader regional role as Manager of Industrial and Wholesale Fuels for Africa and the Middle East, based in Belgium.
The board commended Oyebanji’s dedication and legacy at the company, noting that his contributions will continue to influence the organisation and inspire future generations of industry professionals.
