President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to commission the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge in Lagos this week, a major infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in the metropolis.
The 5.04-kilometer bridge will provide a direct and efficient linkage between Ikeja and Ojota, reducing travel time and boosting economic productivity.
The bridge, originally conceived over 20 years ago, was revived in January 2022 by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as part of his administration’s THEMES Developmental Agenda and State Strategic Transport Master Plan.
It is expected to serve as a key transport artery for Lagos commuters, reducing traffic congestion in one of the city’s busiest areas.
Other projects lined up for commissioning during Tinubu’s two-day visit include the Lagos State Geographic Information Service building, Lagos Multi-Agency Building, Lagos Fresh Food Hub, Tolu Schools Complex, and Maracana Stadium. Security and traffic management plans are in place to minimize disruptions during the visit ¹ ² ⁴.
